Governor Quinn Announces $1.6 Million in Grants to Northwestern Illinois Hospitals
Includes Funding for Improvements and Needed Upgrades

SPRINGFIELD – Governor Pat Quinn today announced $1.6 million in investments to hospitals in northwestern Illinois, part of $24.3 million in the Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program to address the critical needs of health care institutions outside of the Chicago metro area. Today’s announcement follows Governor Quinn’s recent signing of a law that enacted the largest increase in health insurance coverage in state history, one of the Governor’s 2013 legislative priorities.

“It is crucial that hospitals have the most up to date facilities and equipment to deal with the health care needs of Illinois residents,” Governor Quinn said. “These grants will help northwestern Illinois hospitals provide better service to their patients.”

So far under Governor Quinn’s Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program, private hospitals have received $150 million for critical health care needs.

The institutions in the area that will receive Illinois Jobs Now! funding include:

Henry County
Kewanee Hospital, $190,272 for new equipment.

Knox County
OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, $234,485 to renovate the Fluoroscopy Suites.

Mercer County
Genesis Medical Center, Aledo, $170,360 to acquire digital mammography equipmentt.

Rock Island County
Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, $161,410 to renovate the Outpatient Cardiac Unit.
Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, $315,895 for exterior building repairs.

Warren County
OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth, $174,410 to renovate the operating rooms.

Whiteside County
CGH Medical Center, Sterling, $221,907 for a fire suppression system in the Clinic Building.
Morrison Community Hospital, $170,450 for a fire suppression system.
