Governor Pat Quinn Statement on Chicago Public Schools Pension Holiday

SPRINGFIELD - Governor Pat Quinn issued the below statement regarding House Amendment #2 to Senate Bill 1920, which provides Chicago Public Schools with a pension holiday extension. This legislation is before the Illinois House.

"I will not sign any extension of a pension holiday for Chicago Public Schools unless the General Assembly sends comprehensive public pension reform to my desk."

To date, lawmakers have not sent comprehensive pension reform to Governor Quinn's desk. This afternoon, Moody's issued a warning to the state of Illinois of an imminent downgrade to its credit rating if there is failure to enact pension reform.
