PHOTO RELEASE: Governor Quinn Leads Trade Mission to Mexico

Below are photos featuring Governor Pat Quinn on his trade mission to Mexico speaking to business leaders and government officials to spur economic opportunities and tourism between Illinois and Mexico. With Illinois already leading the Midwest in exports, the mission will build on the success of Governor Quinn’s agenda to aggressively pursue international trade and create jobs in Illinois.

Governor Quinn is shown speaking at a business roundtable luncheon with the Institute of Mexicans Abroad (IME) and key business leaders from Mexico and Illinois.

The governor showcased Illinois as a visitor destination at a breakfast with Mexican travel industry leaders. Governor Quinn invited Mexican tourists to enjoy cultural attractions in Chicago, experience Abraham Lincoln in Springfield and drive Route 66. Mexican travelers now pump $103 million into the Illinois economy, but the governor is working to boost that figure this year.

Governor Quinn is signing a Memorandum of Understanding to encourage agricultural trade between Illinois and Mexico. With him is Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Robert Flider (right) and local officials. On Friday, Governor Quinn and Director Flider toured a Mexico City plant operated by Ingredion – formerly Corn Products, Inc. – which also has a large production facility in Illinois.

Governor Quinn reads a proclamation that declared it “Benito Juarez Day” throughout Illinois, calling Juarez the “Abe Lincoln of Mexico.” He is joined by teachers and students at Benito Juarez School in Mexico City, and Mexico City officials.
