Liquor Control Commission March Underage Compliance Report

SPRINGFIELD – In March the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state and visited 201 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 29 licensees for violations of liquor control laws.  Eighty-six percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to focus on communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.

Calumet Park – On March 21, 2012 the ILCC along with the Calumet Park Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks.  Of the 14 licensees checked there are no failures to report.

Champaign County – On March 1st, 2012 the ILCC, the Illinois State Police District # 10, Champaign Police Department and the Urbana Police Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Champaign, Urbana and Champaign County in conjunction with the Unofficial Celebration at the University of Illinois. Of the 58 licensees checked, nine licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Legends, 522 E. Green, Champaign
• Friar Tuck Beverage, 1333 Savoy Plaza, Savoy
• Old Orchard Lanes, 901 N. Dunlap, Savoy
• Dead Horse Saloon, 113 E. Main, Tolono
• Casey General Store # 2558, 501 N. Long, Tolono
• Wal-Mart Super Center # 5403, 100 S. High Cross, Urbana
• Circle K # 94, 1821 S. Philo RD. Urbana
• Rose Bowl Tavern, 106 N. Race, Urbana
• Red Star Liquors, 114 S. Race, Urbana
• Geovanti’s, 401 E. Green, Champaign

Centralia – On March 8, 2012 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 12 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Centralia.  Of the 28 licensees checked, four licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Tammy’s Hallway, 129 E. Broadway, Centralia
• Polar Place, 323 Poplar St. Centralia
• Sergio’s Mexican Bar & Grill, 1330 W. McCord, Centralia
• Pizza Hut # 2621, 735 W. Broadway, Centralia

Douglas County – On March 21, 2012, an ILCC Special Agent assisted by ISP District # 10 conducted an Underage Compliance Check at 15 businesses in Douglas County.  Four of the businesses failed.  The licensees that failed were:

• La Cascada Mexican Grill   1063 E. Columbia, Arthur
• Carmen’s Bar & Grill   126 N. Oak, Arcola
•  Arcola Country Store & Gas   411 E. Springfield Rd., Arcola
• Casey’s General Store # 1525   600 S. Main St., Tuscola

Frankfort – On March 15, 2012 the ILCC along with the Frankfort Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks.  Of the 15 licensees checked, there were two that sold to ILCC underage participants.  Those licensees were:

• Pete Mitchell’s, 2100 S Frankford Square Road, Frankfort
• Walt’s, 20825 S Lagrange Rd, Frankfort

Lisle – On March 26, 2012 the ILCC along with the Lisle Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks in.  Of the 14 licensees checked, two sold to ILCC underage participants.  Those licensees were:

• 7-11, 4651 Old Tavern Rd, Lisle
• Four Lakes Pantry, 5800 Forest View Rd, Lisle

Macoupin County – On March 14, 2012 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 18 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Macoupin County. Of the 30 licensees checked, three licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Bunkhouse Tavern, 201 W. Warren, Bunker Hill
• Loomis House, 118 E. Side Square, Carlinville
• Reno’s Pizza, 518 N. Side Square, Carlinville

Plainfield – On March 28, 2012 the ILCC along with the Plainfield Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks.  Of the 15 licensees checked, one sold to ILCC underage participants.  That licensee was:

• Palomar Liquor, 24402 W Lockport, Plainfield

 
Stephenson County – on March 14, 2012 the ILCC along with Stephenson County Sheriff’s conducted alcohol compliance checks in Stephenson County.  Of the 12 licensees, checked, four sold to ILCC underage participants.  Those licensees were:

• Route 20 Bar & Grill, 2051 AYP Road, Freeport
• The Real McCoy’s, 504 N Stanton Street, Davis
• Rock City Tap, 106 N Main Street, Rock City
• Matt’s Mau Haus, 323 West High Street, Orangeville
