Liquor Control Commission February Underage Compliance Report

SPRINGFIELD – In February the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state and visited 134 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 35 licensees for violations of liquor control laws.  Seventy-four percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to focus on communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.

Champaign – On February 16th, 2012 the ILCC and the Champaign Police Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Champaign. Of the 27 checks made, eight licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Geovanti’s, 401 W. Green St. Champaign
• Old Chicago Restaurant, 1910 N. Neil, Champaign
• Smoke Que & Brew, 2411 Village green Place, Champaign
• Tortica’s Grill, 408 E. Green, Champaign
• Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 2121 N. Prospect, Champaign
• Zelma’s, 1103 W. Windsor RD, Champaign
• Kam’s, 618 Daniel, Champaign
• Chester Street, 65 Chester, Champaign

Madison County – On February 2, 2012, an ILCC Special Agent assisted by ISP District # 11 conducted an Underage Compliance Check at 20 businesses in Madison County.  Five of the businesses failed.  The licensees that failed were: 

• C & H Quick Mart   3425 Missouri Ave., Granite City 
• TJ’s Bar   1539 Madison Ave, Granite City 
• El Gato   1800 Delmar, Granite City
• River’s Edge Bar & Grill   100 Niedringhaus Ave., Granite City
• Old Firehouse Inn   3900 Nameoki Rd., Granite City

Mattoon – On February 23rd, 2012 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Mattoon. Of the 23 licensees checked, five licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Custom Smoke House Bar & Grill, 3020 Lakeland, Mattoon
• Bob’s East Side Package, 601 Dewitt, Mattoon
• Pat’s Lounge, 2019 Western, Mattoon
• Time Out Lounge, 44 Moultrie, Mattoon
• Shinehart (Mattoon BP), 3301 Moultrie

Macoupin County –On February 8th, 2012 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 18 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Macoupin County. Of the 28 checks, 11 sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• R & M Top Lev Dining, 217 Jackson, Virden
• Show Times Lanes, 1515 Springfield RD, Virden
• Manu Petro. 808 N. Broad, Carlinville
• Chief’s II, 107 N. Macoupin, Gillespie
• The Work Place, 605 Litchfield RD, Gillespie
• Mt Olive Bowl, 105 Old RT # 66, Mt. Olive
• Hurley’s Main St. Saloon, 113 W. Main, Mt. Olive
• Crawdaddy’s, 121 W. Main, Mt Olive
• Freedom Oil, 102 S. 3rd, Girard
• Andy’s Tavern, 208 W. Center, Girard
• Last Chance Saloon, 24720 North Standard City RD, Girard

Montgomery County – On February 1st, 2012 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 18 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Montgomery County. Of the 36 checks made, six licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Pub Donegal, 308 N. State, Litchfield
• Shakie’s Pub, 2110 Miller Ave, Hillsboro
• Cobetto’s, 518 Main St., Taylor Springs
• My Place. 9036 S. RT 127, Taylor Springs
• Boente Shell, Rte. # 48 & 127, Raymond
• West End Food Mart, RT # 48 W, Raymond
