Ryan Announces Illinois FIRST Grant to Lincoln Trail College
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today announced a $150,000 Illinois FIRST grant to Lincoln Trail College. The Illinois FIRST grant will be used for the Lincoln Trail College e-Commerce Incubator.
"This is a perfect example of local governments, private individuals and local businesses coming together to plan for the future," Governor Ryan said. "By positioning Lincoln Trail College and Crawford County to meet the technological challenges of tomorrow, we are ensuring that all of the residents in our State and Crawford County are prepared for the future."
The e-Commerce incubator will serve as an economic development tool for the Crawford County area. The incubator will house entrepreneurs and small business start-ups that are interested in developing new technologies. The expertise of Lincoln Trail College faculty members and outside consultants will be available to incubator clients.
"This is the first outside funding the incubator has received," Lincoln Trail College President, Dr. John Arabatgis said. "This Illinois FIRST grant gets us moving on the e-Commerce incubator project, which we hope to have up and running in about six months."
Governor Ryan announced the Illinois FIRST grant at an e-Commerce meeting at the college.
