$502,500 in Illinois FIRST Projects for Southern Illinois
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $502,500 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Southern Illinois, including $75,000 to the City of Nashville to install a right hand turn lane and a center turn lane at the intersections of Mockingbird Road and Enterprise Avenue and to install a traffic signal at Enterprise Avenue.
This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Dan Reitz, D-Steeleville.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
- $40,000 to the Carrier Mills Fire Department to purchase new fire and safety equipment.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Jim Fowler, D-Harrisburg. - $35,000 to the Rosiclare Fire Department to install a heating and cooling system and to purchase a new fire truck and fire and safety equipment.
This project was initiated by Fowler. - $30,000 to the City of Vienna to make improvements to its ball park.
This project was initiated by Fowler. - $30,000 to the Village of Okawville to purchase tornado sirens.
